Our team

Baobab Crew
Our Drivers and Tour Leaders hail from East and Southern Africa and in some cases have been part of our team for over 10 years. All are passionate about their roles and dedicated to showing you the best of the African continent. Our Tour Leaders all have guiding qualifications and current first aid certificates. Our drivers are experienced bush mechanics and at Baobab Adventure we allocate an expedition vehicle to a driver long term so that the vehicle becomes the driver's responsibility over several years. Besides taking great pride in their vehicles, our crew are passionate about showing clients their countries and continent as well as sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm about local food, customs, drinks and stories. All our crew speak excellent English as well as a variety of local languages.

Chris Wrede - Director
After backpacking and working around Southern and East Africa, in 1987 Chris cycled from Morocco via Algeria, Niger, Mali, Senegal to Gambia where he met a lost Zimbabwean with a 32 foot yacht and they sailed across the Atlantic to Brazil. Chris then spent the next 18 months circumnavigating South America on his bike. Having met so many weird and wonderful overland expeditions during his own travels Chris was hooked and in 1993 started his career in overlanding.

Jackie Woon - Responsible Travel & Sustainability
Jackie first travelled to Africa in 1989, on a seven month trans Africa expedition. She developed a deep love for the continent, and overlanding, and became a Tour Leader for a small tour operator.
After several years on the road Jackie returned to the UK and managed Sales and Operations for another African overland operator. Then, in 1997 Jackie and Chris, along with another close friend set up their own Overland Adventure company, gradually building up to operating in 4 different continents. This company was sold in 2017.
Jackie has always run her travel career alongside a career in Social Work and has a deep interest and commitment to sustainable travel.
